The Jayco Herald Sun Tour (JHST) is very important to our team, and a race that we’ve won in the past.
It was also our last opportunity for the summer to go head to head with the World Tour teams. We believed we stood a chance of securing some strong results again this year with the riders all in form and Chris Harper and Dylan Sunderland showing their ability to match it with the best previously in the summer.
The race started at the world famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on a windy day that saw Ayden Toovey win the intermediate sprints and do enough to collect the green jersey for the leader of the points classification. A jersey he would go on to hold every day and ultimately win.
With two very hard climbing days, one into Churchill and the other around the famous Arthurs Seat climb on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula, Chris Harper showed his talent, capping an excellent team ride, by claiming 4th on GC, with Dylan Sunderland in 9th. It’s worth noting that only two riders outside of the World Tour finished in the Top 10 and that they were both Bridgelane riders. The team finished 3rd on teams classification.
