Tour de Taiwan. (UCI 2.1); Team BridgeLane’s second Asia Tour race of the season, the 5 stages 661km tour kicks off this Sunday with an 83km Kermesse around the nation’s capital Taipei, one of the most densely populated cities in the world.
Starting in the countries capital Taipei we had a fast 83.2km stage laid out before us. Ben Hill & Sam Jenner got on the front foot early and made the early break to scoop up some time bonuses. As predicted, it all came down to a bunch kick in the end, which saw the ever spritely Nick take out out 7th.
A bumpy 118.8km today starting from Taoyuan featuring a duo of cat. 2 climbs before the finale up to Jiaboanshan Park, a spicy cat. 1. We had a strong day off the front again with Ben, who gave it a crack with just 3km to go, unfortunately being closed down just at the peak but finishing the day in a strong position of 4th in GC.
Nick white also had an impressive display closing out the top 10.
🇹🇼Back to back. Nick takes Stage 03 of the Tour de Taiwan two years running! 🇹🇼
Another big day for Nick, after spending a majority of the day in the break and picking up an intermediate sprint, the legs held strong and carried him to third across the line in the bunch kick.
Moving into the final day tomorrow it’s all to play for!
Nick sits second in GC overall by as many seconds. Let's go!
Well, it all came down to the wire, but we never doubted Nick. Storming home to 2nd in the bunch kick was all that was needed to secure his first GC win and the team's second UCI tour of the 2020 season!
It’s been a massive week and we’re incredibly proud of each and everyone one of the team; all playing their part to help us take home the yellow jersey. Once again proving: teamwork wins races!
